The Caregiver’s Journey

“If we develop concern for other people’s welfare, share other people’s suffering, and help them, ultimately we will benefit. If we only think of ourselves and forget about others, ultimately we will lose. The more we care for the happiness of others, the greater our own sense of well-being becomes.” — Dalai Lama

Being on the caregiver journey puts us a trajectory of soul searching.  The longer the caregiver journey, the longer and deeper one may go.  This special journey will break down old emotions and wounds that were long forgotten.  The caregiver journey breaks down the Ego story of how life is supposed to be.  It breaks down our story of who we think we are.  This can be painful and scary.

When we stay with it,  many times we have no choice to just keep going, day after day, we find we break through the old stories.  That is when a new awakening begins.  We begin to understand ourselves, life and life’s cycles, and compassion and unconditional love emerges.  This compassion and unconditional love is for ourselves.  It then reaches out to all of life. We awaken to a higher and more peaceful view of life.

The caregiver journey, my caregiver journey, put me on the path of an enlightened, awakened, more loving human being.

I am grateful for all that I have experienced.
